‘Adore the roses’ – mixed media card

Roses mixed media card

I made this card for a ‘I love Indigoblu’ Facebook page giveaway. The criteria was to use Indigoblu products to create anything I wanted.

Using my most loved rose, butterfly and texture stamps, I created a mixed media piece. The colours I chose were completely down to the fact that they are my favourite and they make a very good combo.

For the roses, I soaked up some pink, red and yellow Indian inks with a piece of kitchen towel. I let it dry out completely then stamped out the rose stamp (3 times) with black stazon ink. For the highlights I used a white gel pen and cut them out. The kitchen towel gave a really crinkled texture to my roses which I thought were perfect!

Next, I used a combination of distress inks, Indian inks and water colours to create the backgrounds to all my layers. The texture stamps came in very handy to layer up more texture. Some backgrounds were made using a paint brush. Others were made by placing the colours on my blending mat with some water and soaked up the ink into watercolour paper and white card.

The butterflies were so fun to make. I stamped them on to white shrink plastic with stazon ink and coloured them in with alcohol markers. Then for the best bit. I heated them with my heat gun until they stopped shrinking. They only take a minute to cool down ready to use to embellish my card.

I matted and layered the backgrounds with black card and stamped my sentiment. To finish, I layered all the elements up on a 6×6 card base with 3D glue.
