Huge shabby chic MDF tag

MDF tags are one of my favourite things to do. They can be used as an alternative to sending a card or even given as a gift.

For this project, I fancied making a massive shabby chic tag using neutral colours. I have a good stash of lace and crocheted ribbon, so I really wanted to get those added to the mix.

The base of the tag was achieved using thick stencil paste and glued on ribbon. Then I covered it all with gesso. After, I used various neutral acrylic paints to build up the background.

I had some vintage papers and tore the edges to layer up in the background and added more ribbon. Also, I made other elements with some natural twine and metal embellishments – dry brushed with cream acrylic paint.

As the focus for the tag, I found some vintage fabric with roses on and cut out a part of the design. To match, I made some fabric roses to add some more texture and depth to my project.
